Calling entries for Reggae Poster Contest
THE call is out for entries for the fourth annual International Reggae Poster Contest.
The theme of this year’s competition is ‘Toward a Reggae Hall of Fame: Celebrating Great Jamaican Music’.
According to organisers, the goal is simple: create a poster about reggae music. Participant should explore themes covering ska, rocksteady, roots reggae, dub, dancehall and the Jamaican sound system.
The contest is open to designers all over the world. Posters may be designed by a single artist or a team. Designers are allowed to submit any number of original posters. The entry should be an original artwork and not previously published in print, Internet or social media.
Poster requirements: should be submitted in vertical format, JPG files, 1417×1984 pixels at a resolution of 72 dpi, saved in RGB colour space.
The International Reggae Poster Contest will reward the best 100 designs by including them in various exhibitions globally. A book with these posters will be published.
The contest was founded by Jamaican Michael Thompson and Maria Papaefstathiou of Greece in 2011. Another of its objectives is to raise awareness of the Alpha Boys’ School in central Kingston, which has nurtured the talent of outstanding musicians such as trombonist Don Drummond, saxophonist Tommy McCook and trumpeter Bobby Ellis.
