Nelly Stharre found dead
DOMINICAN reggae artiste Nelly Stharre has died. Her burnt body was found Wednesday at her home which police surmise was destroyed by fire.
According to the Dominica News Online website, the burnt remains of the singer, whose given name was Nelly Rafoul, were discovered at the house in Mahaut, a community in the parish of Saint Paul.
Another burnt body was discovered at the house where Stharre lived with her family.
Stharre, 41, was married to a Jamaican and lived in Kingston for several years.
In 1995, the Rastafarian singer released her debut album, Wake Up. This was followed by Rain Jah in 1997 and Soul Country in 2004. The latter was produced by veteran Jamaican producer Clive Hunt.
Stharre performed at the 2010 Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival.
