For A Worthy Cause
What do you get when style, elegance, and purpose come together for a worthy cause? A fabulous afternoon of chocolate and Champagne, of course!
The Jamaica Cancer Society (JCS) hosted a charity fund-raiser and auction in the Venetian Room at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel on Thursday.
The event, organised in association with the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS), is one of the many activities planned for the JCS 60th anniversary celebrations. “It’s a fund-raiser with a little panache,” said JCS Executive Director Yulit Gordon, “an afternoon of chocolate, Champagne, tea and art to aid in the fight against breast cancer.”
Between medleys from Harold Davis & Friends, and guided by emcee Patria-Kaye Aarons, guests enjoyed a sumptuous spread of hors d’oeuvres and sweet treats.
With guests well-satiated, it was time to start the bidding on works from The Jamaica Guild of Artists as well as select pieces of art. There were, too, and available for purchase candid photographs shot by participants of the JN Foundation Resolution Project.
The festivities ended on a high note with Caribbean Flavours & Fragrances General Manager Janice Lee and JNBS Business Development and Research Specialist Nakeeta Nembhard winning the afternoon’s raffle prizes.
Saturday Social makes our bid.
