Experts believe ‘hurt’ Boyz will rebound
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Two experts say Jamaica can rebound to beat Nicaragua in the second game of the two-legged World Cup qualifying tie and advance to the next round.
The teams play the return on Tuesday in Managua after Jamaica stunningly went down 2-3 in the first-leg contest at the National Stadium on Friday.
Despite the poor display, Jamaica were able to create several chances, particularly in the second half.
That, and the two goals they were crucially able to score, provided the feeling for some that all is not lost.
“I think they [Nicaragua] are going to have a difficult time in Nicaragua and now a beast is after them. The Reggae Boyz will be more serious, they will be hungry and of course, they are hurt,” football analyst Clyde Jureidini told OBSERVER ONLINE.
“I think we will come out victorious. We spent most time in their half and we were all over them. Defensively they worked hard and their goalkeeper had an excellent game, but you can see they panicked when we really started to come down on them,” said Lenworth Hyde, a former national player and current football coach.
