Jamaica participates in renewable energy confab in China
JAMAICA is expected to be a key participant in the high-level ministerial workshop on Mechanisms of Renewable Energy Utilisation and Development for Developing Countries being held in Changsha, China from September 9 through to the 18th.
The Jamaican delegation is being led by Minister with portfolio responsibility for Energy Phillip Paulwell
and includes Permanent Secretary in the Energy Ministry Hillary Alexander and Chairman of the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica Christopher Cargill.
The 10-day policy forum will focus on promoting the development and use of renewable energy in developing countries. Also on the agenda are presentations on China’s liberalisation and economic reform programme; promotion mechanisms on construction of China’s renewable energy sector; and prospects for the expansion of renewable energy utilisation in developing countries.
A major objective of Jamaica’s participation is the further strengthening of the human resource development cooperation between China and Jamaica, particularly in energy policy and renewable energy development.
