Singjay aspirations for I-Stitch Jahstar
FANS at Sizzla Kalonji concerts over the years would be familiar with an Afro-centric dancer who performed during the fiery artiste’s set.
Jahbar Moore, known as I-Stitch Jahstar, is still creating dance moves like the Kick Wey and Thriller, but is also concentrating on a career as a singjay.
Crocodile Rock and Let’s Get Ready for School are among his latest songs. He first recorded the latter as a five-year-old.
“Coming up with mi father an’ Sizzla over the years show mi to be positive. The songs I do is to educate the youths,” said the 25-year-old.
I-Stitch Jahstar’s father is producer and longtime Sizzla confidant Everton ‘Caveman’ Moore, who produced all of his songs to date.
The new version of Let’s Get Ready for School marks the recording debut of his five-year-old brother Selah.
I-Stitch Jahstar has been dancing for almost 15 years, starting with the L-Stitch Family in Nannyville, East Kingston while a student at Donald Quarrie High School.
In 2008, he began appearing on stage with Sizzla. This evening, he performs next week at the bi-weekly Kick Wey Wenzzdeh show at Skateland, off Windward Road.
