Enlightening quotes on chiropractic care

Ask your Chiropractor

THE following is a compilation of quotes about the remarkable human body and how chiropractic care can and does help people everywhere achieve their goals of natural wellness and function without pain and symptoms, and without drugs or surgery worldwide.

“Anatomical, physiological and clinical evidence exists which indicates that disorders in the structure of the cervical spine are a frequent cause of headaches.” – Modern Manual Therapy of the Vertebral Column

“Ninety per cent of all carpal tunnel patients were found to have nerve root irritation in their cervical spine, a condition known as double crush phenomena.”

– Journal of Neurology

“You can’t afford to get sick and you can’t depend on the present health-care system to keep you well. It’s up to you to protect and maintain your body’s innate capacity for health and healing by making the right choices in how you live.”

– Andrew Weil, MD

“Antibiotic therapy is not as an effective treatment against otitis media (ear infection) and rates of recurrent infections are significantly higher in children who have been treated with antibiotics.” – Journal of the AMA

“A single-blinded, prospective, comparative, pilot, randomised clinical trial was performed with 18 athletes of both sexes from a judo team currently competing on a national level. One group received chiropractic care and one did not. Measured analysis of each group demonstrated that the grip strength of athletes receiving chiropractic improved compared to those not receiving chiropractic.” – Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics

“Head forward posture can add up to 30 pounds of abnormal leverage on the cervical spine. This can pull the entire spine out of alignment. Forward Head Posture (FHP) may result in the loss of 30 per cent of vital lung capacity.” – Rene Cailliet, MD

“For every inch of head forward posture, it can increase the weight of the head on the spine by an additional 10 pounds.” — Dr Adalbert Kapandji, Physiology of Joints

“All body systems would be immobilised without the nervous system. It controls and regulates every body activity down to the workings of the tiniest cell.” – World Book Encyclopedia of Science

“I would estimate that at least 90 per cent of the world-class athletes use chiropractic on a regular basis to prevent injuries and to improve their performance.” – Sean Atkins, PhD Exercise Physiologist

“Life for the newborn depends upon the preservation and healthy functioning of the brain stem and spinal cord at the level of the upper neck.” – Abraham Tobin, MD Harvard Medical School

“Marked height loss in older men, often due to degenerative changes in bones, muscles and joints is independently associated with an increased risk of all-cause mortality and coronary heart disease.” — Archive of Internal Medicine

“42.7% of workers who first saw a surgeon ended up in surgery, as opposed to only 1.5 per cent of those who first saw a chiropractor.” — Early Predictors of Lumbar Spine Surgery after Occupational Therapy

“Forward Head Posture leads to long-term muscle strain, disc herniations, arthritis, and pinched nerves.” — Mayo Clinic

“Interference to the nervous system results in damage within a short period of time and therefore, chiropractic care should begin at birth on a preventative basis.” — Dr Arpad DeNagy

“A Canadian Research Team included chiropractic care in the rehabilitation programme of 16 injured female long-distance runners. Not only did these runners recover quickly, seven of them actually scored “personal best” performances while under chiropractic care.” — Unknown

“Over 70 per cent of all headaches arise from problems with the cervical spine and its related structures.” — Canadian Family Physician

“The beginning of the disease process begins with postural distortions.” — Hans Selye, Nobel Laureate

“Encroachment or narrowing of the intervertebral canals may be the result of some involvement of the proximate soft tissue structures and/or the boney structures. Irritation of the cervical nerve roots may give rise to pain, sensory changes, muscle atrophy, muscle spasm, and alteration of the tendon reflexes anywhere along their segmental distribution. Any condition causing narrowing of the intervertebral canals may cause compression of the nerve roots.” — Ruth Jackson, MD, The Cervical Syndrome

“Bad posture could raise your blood pressure. A link between the muscles in the neck, blood pressure and heart rate has long been suspected. Researchers at the University of Leeds, UK, have found a direct neural connection between these neck muscles and a part of the brainstem – called the nucleus tractus solitarius (NTS) – which plays a crucial role in regulating heart rate and blood pressure. The finding could explain why blood pressure and heart rate sometimes change when the neck muscles are injured through whiplash, for example. Similarly, it is possible that hours spent hunched over a computer may raise blood pressure. ‘The pathways exist for bad posture to really have an effect, according to the lead scientist’.” — The Journal of Neuroscience

“Symptoms represent the body’s best efforts to heal itself. By treating symptoms, you are suppressing the body’s natural response and inhibiting the healing process. Instead of treating symptoms, doctors should stimulate the body’s defences to allow for completion of the healing process.” — Dr Stephen Cummings

As anyone with any intelligence can clearly deduce from the above quotes and facts, the key to preventing and overcoming disease while increasing mobility, function, natural immune responses and defences soundly depends primarily upon the ability of the brain and nervous system to function properly at optimal levels. Inherently, hindrance and interference of this system via the spine can and does have a profound effect negatively on this natural system. I have lived for nearly half-a-century on this planet. I have dedicated most of that life to servicing peoples of all nationalities, social classes and backgrounds through the alignment of the spinal segments. Still, after all this time, I daily witness miraculous things with so many different people when receiving and responding from chiropractic care that it keeps me going. It gives me the desire to inform and to educate every single person alive that I come into contact with about the Power that made the body’s ability to heal the body. I have never once witnessed anything that comes relatively close in any other method of treatment models. I am a vessel. I am the Spinal Mechanic.

And, for Jamaicans near our offices, I urge you to initiate chiropractic care today. Don’t wait until it’s too late.

Don’t forget to “Ask Your Chiropractor” every week where your questions may be published and answered in subsequent articles. Address questions to: Dr Chris Davis, the Spinal Mechanic at movethebone@gmail.com; or, Dr Michael Harvey, director, at dr.michael_harvey@yahoo.com or visit www.drharveychiropractic.com and search for Dr Chris Davis on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
