Mouthwatering – Champs JC host Clan Carthy, ‘Charlie’ tackle ‘Trinity’
Defending champion Jamaica College (JC) will be hoping to send a strong statement of intent in Group A when they host Clan Carthy High in one of eight ISSA/Flow Manning Cup games on today.
JC have made a quiet start battling to a 2-2 draw with Calabar High on the opening day before defeating St Catherine High 3-1, which moved them into second spot on four points.
Calabar lead the group with five points and they will be in action against a Tivoli Gardens team on three points in fourth spot.
The Miguel Coley-coached JC need a decent victory to boost their confidence. But the Nallawe Blake-coached Clan Carthy, in third spot on four points, will be no pushover based on their 1-1 draw with Calabar High and their 2-1 victory over Tivoli Gardens.
In Group D, last season’s beaten finalists Charlie Smith will be back in action against Holy Trinity High looking to extend their lead. The Jerome Waite-coached aggregation has rattled in eight goals from two matches with 5-0 and 3-0 victories over Penwood High and St Mary’s College, respectively.
Holy Trinity, last season’s beaten LIME Super Cup finalists, are unbeaten also from two games following their 1-0 win over St Mary’s College and 0-0 draw with St Andrew Technical High (STATHS).
In the other Group D encounter, St Mary’s College, with three points, host the pointless Penwood High in a bottom-of-the-table clash.
Former champions Wolmer’s will be aiming to maintain their unbeaten start when they host Bridgeport, while St Jago play Kingston High in Group E action.
Wolmer’s are on top of the group with six points from two games, while Bridgeport are third on three points. Group leaders St Jago, with six points, should secure another win against the hapless Kingston High outfit that have conceded six goals in two games.
In Group G, Camperdown High and Jose Marti High meet in a top-of-the-table clash, while KC host Campion College at their new home venue at the Stadium East Field. The trio of Jose Marti, Camperdown and KC are all on six points in a tussle for top spot.
