Chang: The PNP can’t trick the people anymore
GENERAL Secretary of the Opposition Jamaica Labour Party Dr Horace Chang says he is disappointed, but not surprised, by Sunday’s presentation of People’s National Party (PNP) president and prime minister, Portia Simpson Miller, saying she has proven that she and her party do not have what it takes to move Jamaica forward.
“The PNP has finally resurrected the prime minister, but it continues to fall short of ideas. Instead, it uses a strategy of misinformation to try to trick the Jamaican people into giving them a second term. After being in power for 22 of the last 26 years, the PNP continues to fail the people and can no longer pretend that it has the solutions to move Jamaica from poverty to prosperity. The people have wised up, the PNP can’t trick the people anymore,” Chang said in a release Monday.
Said Chang: “The prime minister gave a speech filled with factual errors. The country has failed to grow under this Government and they have failed to provide the kind of jobs that can give Jamaicans a better life. She spoke of jobs but since they have been in power youth unemployment rose to a record 38 per cent and unemployment generally increased to over 16 per cent, the highest in over 10 years.”
According to Dr Chang, Jamaicans are once again ready to be rescued from a limping and fractured PNP.
“The PNP is a limping shadow of its former self. Over the years they have proven to Jamaicans that they cannot manage. If you look at the state of health care, education and the 20 per cent increase in murders, you will see that it is time to get rid of the PNP. The dollar has lost over 30 per cent of its value and Jamaicans have lost nearly 50 per cent of their spending power because of the poisonous policies of the PNP,” he said.
The JLP general secretary says the party is oiling its election machinery and is ready for the opportunity to give all Jamaicans the chance to live in a country where they all can live, work, do business and raise children in prosperity.
