No compensation for 350 former Iberostar workers
THE 350 workers dismissed by the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach Hotel six years ago will not be compensated.
The former workers received a blow Monday when the Court of Appeal dismissed a ruling by the Supreme Court that was in favour of an order by the Industrial Disputes Tribunal that the workers be reinstated to their jobs by a certain date or be compensated.
The appellate court had reserved its decision in the matter last year following arguments from both sides.
Iberostar legal team of the law firm Samuda Johnson brought the appeal after the Supreme Court dismissed its application to quash the IDT award.
The IDT, on August 30, 2011, ruled in favour of the 350 employees who had their employment contracts terminated in 2009 on the grounds of redundancy.
