‘Ting’ heads to London
On Tuesday, September 29, the real Jamaican Ting will be hosting the second Ting Mixologist Competition in London at the trendy Mahiki Bar.
The competition which was launched last year to reinforce the message that Ting goes well with all types of spirits, is once again inviting bartenders and enthusiastic mixologists to create new and original cocktails, with the only rule being it must contain Ting grapefruit soda.
Entries must be completed through the brand’s Facebook page by creating a cocktail using Ting and submitting a photo of said cocktail. Five finalists will be chosen and will go head to head making their new Ting cocktail in front of the judges.
Ting Ambassador and Miss Universe Jamaica 2014 Kaci Fennell will be a judge on the panel at the 2nd annual Ting Mixologist Awards as well as Georgi Radev, Mahiki’s bar manager along with the 2014 winner of the competition, Robyn Wilkie.
Only three of the finalists will move on to the next round. The finalists will be required to add a modern twist to a traditional cocktail, which incorporates Ting. The final round of the competition will see two finalists using a mystery ingredient to make a cocktail on the spot. The contestants will be judged on their creativity, originality, taste and presentation of their cocktails.
This year, the competitors are vying for £1,000 and the distinction of having their cocktail added to Mahiki’s cocktail list in October.
