Manchester race to fifth-straight win
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Manchester High raced to their fifth-straight win, while Paul Bogle High registered their fourth as the ISSA/Flow daCosta Cup competition continued yesterday.
Three players scored two goals as Manchester High hammered Winston Jones 8-0 in Zone F, while Paul Bogle created space at the top of Zone O after edging second-placed Seaforth High 1-0.
Romario Walsh, who improved his tally to eight goals of the season, Shemar Green, and Dennell Stewart all got braces for Manchester High as they swept aside Winston Jones and improved to 15 points at the top of the zone.
The Donovan Duckey-coached Manchester High have also continued to amass goals as they have now scored 25, the most by any team in the competition.
Mile Gully High won for the first time in three games, beating Belair High 3-0 to move to 10 points, one more than deCarteret College who were 1-0 winners over Cross Keys, thanks to a goal from Dwayne Allen.
In Zone O, Paul Bogle’s win saw them move to 12 points, five more than second-placed Seaforth High.
Petersfield’s perfect win record ended, however, after they were held 1-1 by Little London, who were earning their first point after four games.
Petersfield stayed at the top of the table on 10 points as second-placed Godfrey Stewart were held 0-0 by Maude McLeod High in Darliston.
Dinthill Technical rebounded from their draw on Tuesday with a 3-0 win over second-placed Ewarton High to maintain the lead in Zone K with 13 points.
Bog Walk High moved past Ewarton into second place on goal difference after their 1-0 win over Tacius Golding, with Akeem Cole scoring the winner. McGrath High were 1-0 winners over Charlemont High.
Shemar Cooper scored two goals for Kemps Hill in their 7-0 win over Foga Road and pulled to within a point of leaders Vere Technical High. Cecil Davis, Leonard Matra, Richard Nicholson, Antoniel Barker, and Trevor Simpson all scored as well.
