Romain Virgo to get Unplugged
REGGAE singer Romain Virgo is set to deliver his first unplugged performance at the We Are Reggae concert series held at the The Beach Bar, Doctors Cave Bathing Club in Montego Bay, tomorrow night.
“The sixth concert in the We Are Reggae unplugged series promises to deliver more great performances. We will have giveaways and surprises at this concert. Saturday is We Are Reggae’s Ladies Night. My partners Patrick Casserly and Orlando Maxwell, and I, are appreciative of the loyalty shown by our patrons, and along with our title sponsor Red Stripe, wish to demonstrate our gratitude in a small way. Also, this month, we official launch our partnership with my Yutes Rise, an outreach programme designed to uplift our children and teenagers through our amazing and diverse Jamaican culture. We will be hosting our first two high school students, Daniel Clarke, Oshane Love and head of the music department, Mr Carl Matthews from Herbert Morrison Technical High school,” said Peter Lloyd.
Virgo, who was the 2007 winner of Digicel Rising Stars talent competition, is known for hits including Caan Sleep, Live My Life, Wanna Go Home, and reggae covers of Adele’s Don’t You Remember and Sam Smith’s Stay With Me.
Saturday’s concert will also introduce Lady Genius, whose single Suitcase, has been doing the rounds.
The Clarendon-born artiste, whose given name is Danette Mahabeer, migrated to Atlanta a year ago. A former student of Garvey Maceo High and University of the West Indies, she worked in Jamaica’s hospitality sector as entertainment supervisor in a number of hotels, including Sandals Resorts.
We Are Reggae series is held the last Saturday of each month.
