Montreal goes mad for Macka
Macka Diamond was a hit at the Piccolo Little Burgundy Club in Montreal, Canada during her recent performance at the Montreal International Music Festival.
She closed the event, performing after stints by The Salvation Army, and New York rapper Junglepussy.
Diamond hit the stage doing Done Already, then went into hits like Cow Foot, Hula Hoop, Twist Me, Body Calling, Karma and Twist Me.
However, the biggest ‘forward’ of the night from the mainly white audience was reserved for Dye Dye, maybe the biggest song of her career.
“They loved me, one of my fans came backstage after the show and said ‘Macka, you are our queen’. Somebody also approached me to play a role in a movie about dancehall they will be shooting in Montreal next year so I am looking forward to that,” she said.
The Montreal International Music Festival was held September 16-20. It had music, art and workshops that focused on films and craft.
More than 400 bands played in over 50 venues across the city.
Macka Diamond is scheduled to release a video for her popular Weave song in October.
