I always believed in the team, says Munro coach
MALVERN, St Elizabeth — The Munro College daCosta Cup coach, Kevrol Stewart, said he always believed his players could turn their season around, following a poor start to their Zone E campaign.
After four games, the former champions appeared to be out of inter-zone contention as they languished at the wrong end of the table on one point.
But the Malvern-based boys have since transformed their fortune, with three successive victories taking them to within a point of the top two — STETHS and BB Coke, who are both on 11 points — with four games remaining in the zone.
So what triggered this turnaround?
“I told them I still believe in them, so I just continue to believe in the team,” said Stewart.
“We know we can play,” he added, “so we put some things in place, changed our system, and it’s working.”Now, their sights are set on topping the zone.
“When we started the season, that was always the goal,” said Stewart, who is in his first season at Munro. “And winning is always a good formula, so we want to continue the trend.”
But, he added, “We are not going to get too excited about this position. We will just continue to do what we are doing and take it one game at a time,” noted Stewart, who was Jackie Walters’ assistant coach at Clarendon College when they won the title last season.
