Trelawny Food and Music Festival set for Heroes’ Day
PROMOTERS of Trelawny Food and Music Festival 2015 have promised to deliver a day full of fun and entertainment for the entire family at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium on National Heroes’ Day, Monday, October 19.
The concert segment will be highlighted by performances from Romain Virgo, Kevin Downswell and Marsha K, as well as Trelawny’s L’ Oquent, Rondil, Goddesta, 4 Effect, among others.
This is the third staging of the event, which is the brainchild of Gregory King. The organisers are of the view that the family show has outgrown the previous Wet ‘N’ Wild venue and has moved it to the home of the Jamaica Jazz Festival.
Speaking at the recent launch of the show, held at the Glistening Waters Restaurant, Trelawny Food and Music Festival public relations officer Desiree Vernon said that a variety of cuisine will be available throughout the day and several events for the children.
“The Trelawny Food and Music Festival will provide an unforgettable diverse culinary experience, Indian cuisine, Chinese cuisine, Japanese cuisine, and of course Jamaican cuisine,” Vernon announced.
“Celebrities are also invited to participate in a mystery basket cook-off,” she added.
“Part proceeds of this event will go towards offsetting the cost of Neighbourhood Watch Clubs/Schools Safety and Security Club which is now in full effect in piloting schools. Ten per cent of ticket sales will be given to all participating schools in the parish towards their safety and security plan,” Vernon said.
The event has been endorsed by the Trelawny Police Division Superintendent Clive Blair.
“The Jamaica Constabulary Force endorses events that are geared towards uniting families, so we believe that this is a commendable effort as we continue in uniting in the fight against crime in the division,” Blair declared.
