Title-chasing KC put unbeaten record on the line
TITLE aspirants Kingston College (KC) will put their unbeaten record on the line when they welcome Jose Marti Technical in their Group G return-round game in the 2015 ISSA/Flow Manning Cup competition at Stadium East Field today.
Seven other matches are down to take place in what will be a crucial weekend as teams are hunting a second-round berth.
The North Street-based KC lead the group on 15 points after winning all their previous matches in commanding fashion, scoring 13 goals and conceding one.
KC are one of four teams — including Hydel, Charlie Smith and Wolmer’s Boys’ — to remain unbeaten so far in the competition, and will start favourites to keep their record intact against their lesser-fancied opponents from Spanish Town.
Jose Marti, who lost 0-2 to KC in the first leg, are on six points in third position and will be looking to gain valuable points in order to make it to the next round.
In the other group fixture, Waterford High will take on Campion College in the bottom-of-the-table clash with the Portmore-based team expected to get the win.
Meanwhile, a keen battle is on the cards in Group E when the unbeaten Wolmer’s Boys’ face arch-rivals St Jago in what should be a very competitive match at Spanish Town Prison Oval. Wolmer’s Boys’, who lead the group on maximum 12 points, hold the edge after defeating St Jago (nine points) in round one.
Out of contention Mona High (three points) and Kingston High (zero) will contest the other game in the group.
Group D leaders Charlie Smith (12 points) should continue their domination in the group when they take on Penwood High (zero) in what could be a one-sided affair.
St Mary College (six points) will be looking to make inroads on the leaders when they travel to St Andrew Technical (four points) in the other group fixture.
In Group A, second-placed Calabar (six points) and St Catherine High (three points) will be searching for well-needed points when they clash in Group A, while Clan Carthy (four points) should take all three points from a struggling Tivoli High.
Jamaica College, who are out of action today, lead the group with 13 points.
