WILFRED CHIN SCORES 200th WIN
Trainer Wilfred Chin reached the landmark of 200 career wins when Frankenstorm romped home in the first race at Caymanas Park last Saturday. Ridden by Orlando ‘Chucky’ Foster for owner Ram AT, Frankenstorm (Outrigger – Seeking Lil) took up the running approaching the home and then drew clear at the top straight to win easily by five lengths over Shade Of Beauty and Change Him Name in the $350,000 – $300,000 event over 1,200 metres. The winning time was 1:14:3 minutes. The win by Frankenstorm was also the first winner for Chin this season.
FIRST-TIMERS
Western Faith, Gold Member and Jesse’s Favourite won their first race at Caymanas Park on Saturday. After 34 starts Western Faith (Rayan Wilson) got the job done, but with some assistance from the race day stewards. The Patrick Lynch-trained Western Faith did just enough to get second position behind Tiz A Cat (Jevvanne Erwin). Tiz A Cat was later disqualified and placed third behind Queen of the Town (Andree Powell) for causing interference.
Trained by Gresford Smith and ridden by Ruja Lahoe, Gold Member cruised home by nine lengths in 0:59:3 minutes over 1,000 metres straight. Jesse’s Favourite, with Ian Spence riding for Philip Feanny, made all convincingly to win by four-and-a-quarter lengths over Doolahin (Shane Ellis) in 0:59:4 minutes going over 1,000 metres straight.
NO WINNERS FOR NELSON, HALLEDEEN
Champion jockey Dane Nelson failed to win on his only mount on Saturday after his recent return from Canada. Surprisingly, Nelson who did well during his time in Canada is not down to ride on tomorrow’s nine-race card. Robert Halledeen, who is having the best season in his career was also winless on Saturday. This allowed leader in the jockey’s race to add two more winners to his tally.
