8-y-o defeats Usain Bolt on ‘Ellen DeGeneres Show’
KINGSTON, Jamaica – After a video of eight-year-old self-proclaimed personal trainer Demarjay Smith went viral recently, he was trending again today as he challenged the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, which aired on NBC a short while ago.
Demarjay, when asked by DeGeneres about his future plans, said he wanted to be a personal trainer, basketball player and a track athlete, before he went on to challenge Bolt.
“…You know I like track, running, so I wanna challenge Usain Bolt in a race,” Demarjay said, adding that he believed that he could beat him 100 per cent.
Bolt, who was also a guest on the show, surprised Demarjay and gave him the opportunity to race him.
The race, which took place outside the studio, saw Demarjay emerging as the winner. Bolt at the last stretch held on to his thigh and jokingly cried that he had cramps, allowing young Demarjay to cross the finish line ahead of him.
At the end of the race Bolt said: “He got lucky, cramps, cramps.” He then added that he wanted a rematch before handing Demarjay an assortment of prizes.
