Vandals hit NWC again, customers without water
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Water Commission (NWC) says one of its systems has again been hit by vandals.
The NWC said the thieves removed vital chlorine pumping equipment from the Bybrook #4 Pumping Station in St Catherine, causing the plant to be inoperable and leaving a number of communities without water supply.
Customers from Princess Field, August Town, Cow Gully, High Mountain, West Prospect, Riversdale Main Road, Church Road, Burton, Cashew Walk, and Hyde Lane, will be without water as a result.
The commission said that every effort is being made to restore operations at the station within the shortest possible time.
NWC is once again making an appeal for persons to “desist from these acts of vandalism”.
