Wolmer’s tag Hydel to capture rally title
WOLMER’S beat Hydel 4-2 in extra time to capture the 2015 Jamaica Independent Schools Association (JISA) Preparatory Schoolgirls Open Rally title at the Leila Robinson Courts last Thursday.
Winning coach, Maurice Edwards, said it was a good feeling of winning this time around in his second year at the helm as coach of Wolmer’s Prep.
“Wolmer’s finished third in the rally and also third in the league last year, and this is a great achievement for the girls and the school,” Edwards said.
Vaz Prep tagged Quest Prep 2-0 to capture third place.
Meanwhile, in the semi-finals of the Open Rally, Wolmer’s defeated Vaz 4-0, while Hydel clipped Quest 2-1. St Catherine Prep, who did not qualify for the semi-finals, were the defending rally champions.
In the preliminary rounds, Wolmer’s topped Zone One with 10 points from Our Lady of the Angels with seven; Quest dominated Zone Three with 11 points; from Praise Tabernacle Academy on nine points, while Hydel won Zone Four on goal difference with 11 points ahead of St Catherine Prep, who also finished with 11.
The League is scheduled to begin today with the winners and runners-up of each zone qualifying for the quarter-final round.
