Ellis pulling away in jockeys’ race
SHANE Ellis is moving away from nearest rival Robert Halledeen in the race to become champion jockey.
Ellis, now firmly planted in the top barns of trainers Anthony Nunes and Richard Azan, leads Halledeen by six winners riding 72 in front at the winning post.
Halledeen in his breakout year firmly holds second place with 66, while former four-time champion, Omar Walker is in third place with 57 winners.
Making a strong impact on the championship is Wesley Henry who returned to local race riding in mid-year. Henry has so far ridden 24 winners for ninth place.
