Mayberry Investments Limited Open Junior Tennis Champs a success, says Smith
The recently concluded Mayberry Investments Limited-sponsored Open
Junior Tennis Championship has been deemed a success by Anika Smith,
assistant vice-president of Marketing.
Mayberry Investments Limited has been a part of the junior tennis
fraternity since 2011 and demonstrated its continued support of the
sport with the fourth staging which was held at the Liguanea Club in
New Kingston last Sunday.
According to Smith, Mayberry’s main focus is geared towards the
development of the sport.
“We recognise the importance of sport to youth development. We are
happy to be a part of this tournament that assists so many players to better hone their skills, and want to take the opportunity to congratulate all the participants,” Smith said.
Over 70 young players participated in the tournament. The level of
participation throughout the tournament is expected to give merit to the growing level of support in Jamaica at the junior level and will address the overall aim at boosting the level of junior tennis island wide.
In addition to the trophy prizes that winners received in their respective categories, they also received points towards their national ranking.
Jairdan Gibbs topped the boys’ 10 and under category ahead of Kosei
Gibbs, while Daniel Azar finished tops in the boys’ 14 and under
category over Jordan Parua. Damani Cain took the boys’ 18 and under
contest with Ruben Pinchas claiming the runner-up spot.

ahead of Cai Drummond, while the up and coming Jenna Harrison topped
the 14 and under division with a two-set win over Kailey Chin. Selena
