Nov 14 for Ram Goat Run
QUEST for the elusive goat will take adventurers and thrill seekers to the resort town of Ocho Rios in this year’s Ram Goat Run scheduled for Saturday, November 14. The event, slated for an 11:00 pm start, begins at Hope Gardens in Kingston.
Now in its third year, the Ram Goat Run will see teams trek across Jamaica in search of a goat, while solving wacky clues and out-of-this-world challenges along the way. All proceeds will be donated to the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay.
Adam Stewart, CEO of the Sandals/ATL group, commends all patrons for their support throughout the years.
“This event celebrates everything that’s beautiful about Jamaica and its people as well as promoting safe driving and raising funds for charity in a fun way at the same time. It’s a completely unique day out and the fact it continues to grow and grow each year is testament to that. Best of all, all profits go directly to the Cornwall Regional Hospital to make a positive impact on those who need it the most,” said Stewart.
The Ram Goat Run is open to anyone with a valid driver’s license and roadworthy motor vehicle. Competitors are encouraged to enter in teams of not more than four persons to a car. An entry fee of $16,000 per car is required and provides competitors with lunch at Hope Gardens and entertainment upon their return during the awards ceremony.
This year’s inter-parish road challenge will see contestants driving from Hope Gardens to Ocho Rios through Mount Rosser and Fern Gully with stops along the way. The hunt has become a favourite among not only friends looking for an adventure-filled day, but for corporate entities which use the event as a team building exercise for its employees.
Last year’s staging of the Run raised more than $1.2 million. The November 1 event saw more than 150 teams participating in the scavenger hunt. The funds raised, through the We Care for Cornwall Regional Hospital, has facilitated the refurbishing of the paediatric ward and the purchasing of well-needed life-saving equipment including nebulisers, suction machines, vital sign monitors.
This year’s sponsors include Rainforest Seafoods, Caribbean Producers Jamaica, Jamaica Automobile Association, Jamaica Observer, Fyah 105, Jamaica Yellow Pages, Red Bull, National Bakery and Win Dem Wheels.
