St Catherine CC pledge support to cancer-stricken Foote
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Catherine CC have made a commitment to donate “a portion” of their 2015 Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) 50-over first-prize money to help cancer-stricken Holy Trinity High student Jordan Foote.
Danza Hyatt, the Catherine CC captain, made the declaration to OBSERVER ONLINE after his team defeated University of the West Indies (UWI) in the final at Sabina Park on Monday.
“The St Catherine Cricket Club and the team will donate a portion of our prize money to Jordan Foote who has cancer,” Hyatt said.
Hyatt, the out-of-favour national cricketer, could not confirm the exact amount that the club will be donating. St Catherine won $500,000 for topping the competition, while second-placed UWI pocketed $250,000.
Foote, who is a promising schoolboy footballer, was diagnosed with cancer of the bone and requires operation that could cost almost $1 million.
