One Direction album leak
British boy band One Direction decided to do a bit of fan service and album promotion by scheduling a few album listening parties. At the viewings/listenings fans were able to have a listen of the new album, scheduled to be released later this year on November 13, from start to finish. What the promoters presumably didn’t expect however were for the tunes and videos shown to be splashed all over the internet in a matter of hours.Perfect and Infinity aren’t doing so hot. To back their claim, fans that were present at the listening venues said they were told to put their phones and recording devices away but no one really came around to check the orders were being followed and devices were not taken away.
One Direction fans everywhere experienced a sleepless night last night either listening, trying to find or freaking out over the leaked tunes. However while many fans were excited about the leak, some expressed distaste at the actions of fans who were leaking, spreading and listening to the album illegally before its release date. A mini war of sorts took place over social media sites such as Tumblr and Twitter where the phrases “Good Fan” and “Bad Fan” were thrown around.
Some fans, however, are of the belief that the leak was deliberate and was an attempt by One Direction’s team to build the excitement surrounding the album seeing as the singles released such as
With all that said, if this really was a stunt by the band’s team to garner more excitement and boost album sales their plan completely worked. Made In The A.M.(Deluxe) jumped from being number twenty-three (23) to number seven (7) on the US iTunes chart in a matter of hours after the album leaks. Multiple links to the unauthorized released songs have since been taken down.
