Holmwood, Denbigh hunt second win in rural netball

MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Respective senior and junior champions Holmwood Technical and Denbigh High will go in search of win number two as the second-round of the ISSA rural area netball competition continues today with action from all four groups.

Holmwood, the rural and all-island champions, opened their account last Friday with a comfortable victory over Charlemont High, but should get a tougher test from Group Three rivals Edwin Allen when they meet at Clarendon Park.

The Frankfield-based Edwin Allen topped Yallahs High in their opening game and will be eyeing an upset in this early top-of-the-table clash.

Last year’s beaten finalists Denbigh should continue their winning ways against Frome Technical in Group One, likewise Knox College and Manchester High, who play Thompson Town High and Anchovy High in Group Four and Two, respectively.

Meanwhile, the journey to Santa Cruz should be an easy one for junior champions Denbigh. They take on Frome, who lost their opening game to St Hilda’s, at St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS).

In Group Two, front-runners Manchester play Mount Alvernia at Frome Sports Club, while Clarendon Park will be the venue for the Holmwood-Edwin Allen and the Knox-Central High match ups.

Action begins at 10:30 am with the juniors across all venues.
