Junior High Schools netball continues today
THE 2015 Kingston and St Andrew Junior High and All-Age Schools Junior and Senior League netball competitions will continue today with matches being played at Melrose and Constant Spring schools, respectively, starting at 9:00 am.
Maverley and St Patrick’s are the defending champions for the Senior and Junior Leagues, respectively.
Action in the Junior League will see Melrose facing Balcombe Drive at 9:00 am; Rousseau playing Windward Road at 9:40 in Junior League at Melrose School, while at Constant Spring School, Cockburn Gardens oppose Constant Spring at 9:00 am, John Mills face St Richard’s at 9:40 am in Junior League matches.
The matches scheduled in the Senior League to be played at Melrose School are Melrose versus Swallowfield at 10:40 am, and defending champions Windward Road versus Mico Practising at 11:40 am, while the lone Senior League game at Constant Spring School will be played between Cockburn Gardens and defending champions Maverley at 10:30 am.
Teams are divided into three zones with the winners and runner-up, plus the two best third-placed teams, advancing to the second round to be played in two groups, from where the winners and runners-up qualify for the semi-finals.
In results of matches played last Thursday, defending champions St Patrick’s defeated Cockburn Garderns 17-4; Shortwood Practising beat Balcombe Drive 13-2; and Constant Spring defeated John Mills 18-5 in the Junior League.
Constant Spring got the better of Mico Practising in a close encounter 17-15, and Cockburn Gardens defeated Shortwood Practising 15-6 in Senior League action.
SENIORS: GROUP 1 — Maverley, Cockburn Gardens, Shortwood Practising, Swallowfield and Melrose
GROUP 2 — John Mills, Windward Road, Mico Practising, and Constant Spring
JUNIORS: GROUP 1 — St Patrick’s, Cockburn Gardens, St Richard’s and Constant Spring
GROUP 2 — Clan Carthy, Melrose, Balcombe Drive and Shortwood Practising
GROUP 3 — Maxfield Park, Rousseau, Irish Gelly and Windward Road.
