KINGSTON, Jamaica (JIS) – Work is expected to commence this month on a $99 million road improvement and rehabilitation project in St Elizabeth.
The repairs are to be carried out along the six-kilometre stretch of roadway from Mountainside to the Watchwell parish council road, over the next six months.
This was announced by Minister with responsibility for Information, Senator Sandrea Falconer, at a Jamaica House media briefing on Wednesday.
She pointed out that this section of the roadway is in urgent need of repair, to make it easier and safer for motorists.
The minister said work will include site clearance; drainage work/construction of kerb and channel; and preparation and application of asphaltic concrete.
The contract has been awarded to D. R. Foote Construction Company to undertake the project.
It is being financed by the Ministry of Tourism and Entertainment, through the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF).
