New Ombudsman to be sworn into office
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Attorney Donna Parchment Brown, will be sworn in on Monday as the new political ombudsman.
As a result of this, Parchment Brown is expected to relinquish her current duties as the Custos of St Andrew.
Her appointment as Ombudsman will take effect on Monday once she is sworn in by Governor General Sir Patrick Allen.
A dispute resolution specialist, Parchment Brown was called to the Bar more than 33 years ago and has served in both the private and public sectors.
She will succeed Bishop Herro Blair who resigned from the position in 2013.
The Political Ombudsman who is appointed by the Governor General, after consultation with the Prime Minister and leader of the Opposition, has statutory responsibility to oversee and investigate adherence to the country’s Code of Political Conduct.
