Vows – Kingston Bridal Week: A Bridal Wonderland

Brighter lights, double the patrons, and happy sponsors …what more could the organisers of Kingston Bridal Week ask for? The week-long roster of events culminated with the Bridal Market & Expo at the Chinese Benevolent Association (CBA) on Hope Road last Sunday where all the elements required to orchestrate the perfect wedding were housed under one roof. Indeed, over 90 of Jamaica’s most recognised bridal vendors and exhibitors were on hand.

Food is an integral part of any celebration and Chung’s Catering Services Limited provided scrumptious local and Asian-infused menu offerings. Soft drinks and snow cones were also on offer.

Patrons were taken through the behind-the-scenes planning and execution of a wedding as they moved between booths. Emcee Ryan Dixon gave clear directions on the flow of the event, conducting interviews with the different booth representatives along the way. Everything was covered, from invitations to table setting, bridal hair and make-up tutorials, guest souvenir ideas and even diet meal plans to shed those extra pounds before the big day. Intermittent raffles kept patrons on their feet, eager for a chance to win one of the many weekend getaways.

There was, too, a seamless flow of activities handled by a BlackTie Entertainment deejay, and performances on the hour by members of The Entity Ja talent group. Saxophonist Kalonii was the go-to man for a musical stride down memory lane, but by the time fire breather Nathaniel Stewart presented his thrilling and acrobatic act, the audience was warmed up for the fashion show, which saw the first- ever Lubica Bridal collection, and designs from Clay, Petals & Promises, and Bow Ties by LaShane Couture. Vows takes you inside the CBA.
