Quarter-final day in rural area netball competition
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — The quarter-final round of the ISSA rural area netball competition will be contested today, with all eight games scheduled to be played at Manchester High. Tip off is set for 9:00 am with two junior league matches.
But the marquee match-up of the round will come from the senior league, where Denbigh High will put their 100 per cent win record on the line when they tackle fellow Clarendon school Knox College. Denbigh, last season’s runners-up, topped their inter-zone group ahead of Frome Technical and are favoured to at least return to the final this season.
But while Knox placed second to Titchfield High in inter-zone round Group Four, they are a formidable team and Denbigh will also be mindful that an upset is not beyond their opponents.
Meanwhile, title holders Holmwood Technical will meet St Elizabeth Technical in what could be another close encounter.
Elsewhere, Manchester High play Edwin Allen, Titchfield oppose Frome. In the junior league, defending champions Denbigh are expected to escape unscratched against Titchfield, who finished second to Holmwood in Group Four, in their last eight contests.
Christiana-based Holmwood will lock horns with Anchovy High, Manchester play Central High, while Knox and Glenmuir High meet in another all- Clarendon affair.
