‘Team player’ Campbell enjoyed marathon-bowling spell
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica Scorpions player John Campbell says he is willing to bowl plenty of overs if that is what the team requires.
Campbell, mainly a left-handed opening batsman, led the Scorpions to a six-wicket victory against Trinidad & Tobago Red Force with his part-time off-spin bowling.
He took 7-73 off 30 overs and five balls to help dismiss the home team for 175 in the second innings of their WICB Professional Cricket League encounter at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad and Tobago.
It was a performance that tipped the match heavily in the Scorpions’ favour.
“Whenever I’m called upon I’m always ready to bowl, so if the captain sees it fit I’ll go and do my best,” Campbell told OBSERVER ONLINE.
“I haven’t bowled so long in a long while, but it was what the team needed and I’m a team player so I did it,” he added.
The Scorpions’ next outing is scheduled to be against Leeward Islands Hurricanes at Sabina Park, starting on December 4.
