Salut at Nirvana
The Salut! celebrations wrapped last Sunday at the Nirvanna Indian Fusion Cuisine restaurant in extarordinary style. Indeed the weeklong wine appreciation series-turned-birthday soirée for co-host and managing director of Nirvanna Indian Fusion Cuisine restaurant, Mahek Chatani.
The J Wray & Nephew team, along with Mara Made Designs founder/CEO Tamara Harding styled a section of the restaurant with Pan-Asian influences, and wine station — stocked with wines from Italy, Germany, and California — all from the Winning Wines collection. The wine pouring commenced with the Italian Maschio Prosecco Brut Treviso DOC “to activate the taste buds, and prep the palate for the meal ahead” as Jamaica Observer Wine Consultant and Columnist Christopher Reckord so aptly put it, and followed with the Blue Nun Riesling from Germany and the Apothic White out of California. Both wines were paired with either of three appetizers: the quinoa salad with cranberry and mixed veggies, the smoked turkey stuffed in chicken wings, and the garlic or garlic cheese nan. There was, too Tandoori turkey in makhani sauce, kalmi tikka, and southern aloo gobi, paired with the Maschio Rosé Extra Dry, and the Terre Grosse Pinot Grigio, cleansing the palate for desserts with the Cinzano Gran Dolce. The red velvet halwa and peanut butter pumpkin fudge was the perfect accompaniment for the Mirassou Pinot Noir, the final pour of the evening. Scotiabank AERO Platinum MasterCard Credit Card in hand, Wednesday Social adds more Christmas wines to the cellar.
