Sunscape Splash to open in Montego Bay on December 23
AM Resorts, tour operator and hospitality company which has partnered with the Kerr family to refresh the resort offerings at Sunset Montego Bay, will open the rebranded property as Sunscape Splash on December 23.
The 308 -room hotel has been redesigned to offer family fun, citing a new Pirate’s Paradise waterpark which features “a pirate ship and fort, a 40-foot pirate’s plank bridge, a lazy river and two waterslides”. It is also now offering snorkelling in the Montego Bay marine park.
Attempts to get the cost of upgrades were unsuccessful as AM Director of Sales Richard Brown did not respond to emailed queries.
Ian Kerr, Sunset’s managing director, earlier this year indicated that Sunset had entered into a 15-year management agreement with AMResorts (AMR), also operators of Secrets Resorts and Spa.
The group operates 42 hotels in Mexico and the Caribbean, catering to different market segments — adults only (Zoetry, Secrets, Breathless), and family (Dreams and Sunscape).
Sunscape Montego Bay sits on 1,800 feet of beach, fronting the Montego Bay Marine Park. AM is promising its quests a la carte restaurants serving a variety of cuisine and kid-friendly menus with 24-hour access to food and beverage options. Its six restaurants, AM said, will serve a variety of international cuisine while five bars and lounges will satisfy those in need of liquid refreshment.
