Dre Island live at Nanook
“One good thing about music is that, when it hits you, you feel no pain”. Bob Marley was absolutely right, and had practically the only quotation that could truly describe the awesomeness which took place at Nanook on Saturday Night.
Though the show had a late start, things eventually got heated as the host of the night, Debbie Bissoon, made her opening remarks and welcomed the star performer of the night to the stage.
This must have been one of the most magical nights ever to have taken place at Nanook. The second Dre Island stepped onto the stage, dashing hits after hits after hits, he had the entire crowd rocking and cooing his lyrics.
The entire night was nothing less than wonderful and I’m sure all the patrons can say that Dre Island and the Jah Kingdom Warriors band gave them a night worth their money.
In the middle of the show, three young reggae artistes were introduced and were warmly welcomed by the crowd, but the chants and screams were even louder as young ‘Junior’ shelled the lyrics of his latest song. The star of the night then took over once again and showcased his piano skills. It was evident that he made use of all his piano lessons. it was nice seeing a softer, more romantic side of a hardcore Roots Reggae artiste.
Drawing to the end of the night, Kelissa made an appearance alongside Keznamdi as they all performed
Rastaman. Shortly after, Chronixx, Kabaka Pyramid and Iba Mahr joined for a freestyle session which had everyone in the crowd firing air shots, shouting, chanting and screaming as they cheered the performers on.
Overall, the show was great. Everyone who performed gave it their absolute best, and I must say that I got way more than my money’s worth. I can only say, there are great things in store for Dre Island as a Reggae artiste.
If by any chance you are a fan of reggae music, Chronixx will be having the second leg of his Capture Land tour. Check
