Petersfield off to win in Western Confed Super League

PETERSFIELD, Westmoreland — Roniel Whyte scored twice to lead promoted Petersfield FC to a 2-0 win over Montego Bay Boys and Girls Club at the Petersfield Community Centre on Sunday as they opened their Jamaica Football Federation Western Confederation Charley’s JB Rum Super League campaign.

Whyte’s goals came in the 19th and 36th minutes as last season’s Westmoreland FA Major League champions joined Salt Marsh United at the top of Zone One, with both on three points.

Salt Marsh United had beaten Granville United of St James 1-0 on Saturday.

The other two games on Sunday both ended in 0-0 results. Village United drew with Sandals Whitehouse at the Elleston Wakeland Centre in Falmouth, and defending champions Savannah SC and promoted Lucea FC at Frome also ended goalless.

Former champions Wadadah FC lead Zone Two after their 3-1 win over promoted Clarks Town on Saturday. Beaches Negril, Reggae Youths, Sandals Whitehouse and Village United are all on one point each.
