UPDATE: Grenada police charge man in death of university professor
ST GEORGE’S, Grenada (CMC) – Grenada police have formally charged a man with murder in the death of a 36-year-old university professor, whose partially decomposing body was discovered last weekend.
A brief police statement said that Akim Frank, who had been named as a person of interest and had surrendered to law enforcement authorities on Friday, had been charged with the death of Canadian born Professor Linnea Veinotte, who taught at the American owned St George’s University here.

She had been reported missing after leaving her home on December 5.
Her husband, Matt Veinotte, in a statement said his wife’s body was found after Frank had surrendered to law enforcement authorities.
“We are of course devastated at the loss of our beautiful Linnea, mother, wife, daughter, sister, and a friend to so many. We would like to thank the many hundreds of people who helped in the search and the many, many thousands in Grenada and around the world who have offered their support, kindness and prayers. Thank you all,” he said in the statement.
The Grenada police it will hold a news conference later on Monday on the matter.
