Dear Editor,

Following the exciting announcement that ATL Automotive is set to become the regional master dealer of BMW and Mini in the Caribbean and the first-ever Jamaican automotive company to expand outside of our homeland, I feel duty-bound to shine a light on those who helped to bring this tender process to a hugely positive conclusion.

A game-changing achievement such as this does not happen by fortune. It was a nine-month journey that relied on every ounce of our company’s talent and dedication. That it was successful is understandably deeply satisfying. However, to say that it was us alone who made it happen is only telling half of the story.

It happened also because of incredible support from those outside of our company with nothing to gain except to protect and enhance the reputation and best interests of our beautiful country of Jamaica and its people. To those who played a role, we thank you.

The journey saw our team make numerous visits to Mexico City in order to present our company, its people, and our vision to BMW AG. Each and every time, Ambassador Sandra Grant Griffiths was there, regardless of the time or day, rain or shine, to offer impartial and priceless hospitality and guidance. Her representation of our fine country in Mexico is truly exemplary and should be cheered from the rooftops.

For us here in Jamaica, this commercial deal will seem as though it’s about two Jamaican-based companies competing with each another. However, during this process we found ourselves competing with large companies from around the world. Yes, we are a small island in the Caribbean of just 2.7 million people, yet we achieve more and create more positive vibrations throughout the world than most other countries 10 times our size.

Whether it be on the track, in the literary world or the music industry, people from all walks of life in all four corners of the world associate Jamaica with great achievement. It is a great source pride for us all and was an inspiration for our team.

To everyone who supported us, thank you. You made us proud to be Jamaican.
