Tank-weld (Construction) Company Limited and the Ministry of Water and Housing have jointly invested $47 million in infrastructure development for eight acres of land in Fair Mountain Meadows, St Elizabeth.

The partnership is aimed at increasing the number of housing solutions provided for civil servants, young professionals and returning residents on the southern side of the island.

Fair Mountain Meadow’s development includes two commercial and 15 residential lots priced between $1.7 million and $2 million, with land space averaging 5,000 square feet for the construction of up to three bedroom homes.

“The lots are conveniently priced with civil servants and young professionals in mind, as we understand that home ownership is expensive and one of the largest investments one will undertake. So we wanted to ensure that hard- working professionals could be able to take advantage of the offer,” CEO of Tank-Weld Jerome Gayle stated.

“It’s a safe community, away from the hustle and bustle of the city but close enough to main towns and necessary facilities such as hospital, schools, eateries, fire and police stations.”

Located within the Malvern community, Fair Mountain Meadows is between Hampton School and Bethlehem Teachers’ College, about 10 miles north of Junction and 10 miles south of Santa Cruz.

It adds to roughly 100 housing solutions that the Housing Agency of Jamaica is expected to complete in Luana, St Elizabeth next March. Additionally, the National Housing Trust handed over a total of 60 lots for the Balaclava Heights Housing Development, including serviced lots for housing construction and a number of agricultural lots to help boost agricultural production and the earning potential of the community.

Tank-Weld has already established the supporting infrastructure, including roads, electricity, and water for Fair Mountain Meadows. The CEO added that the company is also in discussions with local lending agencies to have financing available for prospective buyers.

Tank-Weld is a civil engineering company focusing on civil works, including the building of roads, bridges and housing development projects.
