‘Artical’ – AAJ names 2015 winners of Schools’ Art Project
EVER noticed the pieces of framed art that line the walls of the link corridor between the departure lounge and the departure gates at Norman Manley Airport? There are about a dozen of them, a mixture of paintings, drawings, and collages on various mediums. They were all produced by primary and high school students and in another week or so, they will be joined by another set of 12 — the 2015 winners of the Airports Authority of Jamaica’s (AAJ’s) Schools’ Art Project.
The AAJ named the top three places in each of four categories in the Carl Abrahams Corner of the upper departure lounge Wednesday afternoon. The 12 were selected from a total of 165, with Newell High School in St Elizabeth and Corinaldi Avenue Primary in St James copping two prizes each. Up for grabs were Samsung Galaxy tablets; airline tickets courtesy of FlyJamaica, jetBlue, and Delta; cash scholarships; AAJ branded school bags and stationery; certificates, and trophies.
