A couple months ago Andrew Holness declared that everywhere he goes the People’s National Party (PNP) follows.

At the time it seemed purely coincidental; however, having made the observation myself, I can’t help but wonder what kind of politics the PNP is practising. Could it be that they are trying to assert false dominance and, therefore, intimidate the Jamaican populace who, by all appearances, are hell-bent on getting rid of them?

I was in the university town of Papine recently and I noticed PNP armbands being worn by a couple older folks. It occurred to me that just the other day Holness and his team were in that area, and now in comes the PNP, sweeping in with large armbands aplenty, as if to wipe away the fact that merely a couple weeks ago the opposing party was there.

Well, if the PNP’s strategy is to flood various areas with armbands and other paraphernalia so as to show who has more support and influence, they are in for a rude awakening. By all accounts people are just completely disgusted by their continued disregard and arrogance in the face of their cries for concrete solutions.

In my mind, it is clear that the PNP is intent on going everywhere the Jamaica Labour Party has gone to assert some sort of political dominance. It’s an unfortunate ploy. People are not buying it.
