Dreamcometrue scores long overdue win

Dreamcometrue scored a long overdue victory when she romped home in a Restricted Allowance event last Saturday at Caymanas Park.

The consistent four-year-old bay filly was winning for the third time in her career and it was her first in five months.

Trained by Steven Todd and ridden by the in-form Robert Halledeen, Dreamcometrue (Deputy Glitters – Spacedout by Spacelink) came with a strong run in deep stretch to get home easily by two lengths in the 1,500-metre event for native- bred four-year-olds and upward non-winners of three.

Mind Set with Orlando Foster in the irons, outpaced Another Bullet (Odean Edwards up) for second position, with Ras Emanuel (Jevvanne Erwin replacing Dane Nelson in the saddle) finishing fourth in the 10-horse field. The clock was stopped in 1:35:1 minutes.

Cruising Motion beats the odds

It’s not very often that we see a horse breaking the maiden tag and winning the first time of asking in the class above.

Such was the case with the Wayne DaCosta-trained Cruising Motion last Saturday.

Cruising Motion (Western Cruise – Total Motion) stepped boldly in front in the non-winners of two contest over 1,200 metres, with his rider Paul Francis digging deep to ward off the challenge of the Wesley Henry-ridden Bird Catcher in the last furlong.

In the end Cruising Motion won by a neck. The highly rated Americanbred dark bay filly and 3-5 favourite, Awesome Destiny, under Aaron Chatrie, finished another one-and-a-half lengths in third ahead of Miss Myrtle, the mount of female apprentice Natalie Berger.

The winning time was 1:15.1 minutes.

Nine horses claimed on Saturday

The claiming box was busy on Saturday as nine claims were made on the 10-race programme.

Seven-year-old chestnut mare Eusebia, who won the fourth race, was claimed from Denrick Chamber by Steven Todd acting as both owner and trainer for $180,000.

In the eighth race on a $180,000 claiming tag, War Chip was claimed from Errol Pottinger by Andrew McDonald for Ramos; Georgiamylove was claimed from Edward Walker by Welsh Soutar for Rampage and Battle Song was claimed by Marlon Anderson for himself from Victor Williams.

The Marlon Andersontrained Infantry Officer was claimed by Lorenzo Robinson acting as both trainer and owner for $250,000; Leroy Fearon lost Change Him Name for $250,000 to Marlon Anderson for Rampage; Sound Of Miracle was claimed from Maurice Crooks by Steven Todd for Richard Todd for $250,000; Kimberly Gold was taken from Howard Jaghai for $250,000 by Lorne Kirlew for Hamark Farms, and Dwight Chen claimed Cheers for Carlton Watson from Welsh Soutar, also for $250,000 from the 10th and final event.

First-timers

Miny Lee and Vision Of Gold released their maiden tags at Caymanas Park last Saturday.

Miny Lee (Rizzi Lee – Lady Manila), under claiming apprentice Jerome Innis, came with a strong run in the last furlong to beat Lazza (Shamaree Muir up) and Slew The Clock (Mellisa Ward astride) by fourand- a-half lengths going away in 1:46.0 minutes in the maiden special weight event for native- bred four-year-olds and upward over 1,600 metres.

With Omar Walker riding for 15-time champion trainer Wayne DaCosta, Vision Of Gold (Fearless Vision – Good Prospect), produced a late run in deep stretch to get home by three-quarters of a length over Macallan (Odean Edwards up) and Seeking The Dawn with Richard Mairs on board in a maiden special weight event for native-bred three-year-olds over 1,200 metres. The winning time was a pedestrian 1:16.1 minutes.
