Mechanic accused of removing seized car from police station to stand trial
A mechanic is to be tried following allegations that he removed his seized motor vehicle from the Stony Hill Police Station in St Andrew.
The accused, Kadrian Bloomfield, is to be tried in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on May 26 on charges of simple larceny and attempting to pervert the court of justice.
The date was set Monday when Bloomfield appeared in court. He had pleaded not guilty on a previous occasion in court.
Allegations are that on February 23, 2015, police personnel from the Stony Hill station were doing spot checks on Christopher Road when they noticed that Bloomfield was not wearing a seatbelt and signalled him to stop.
Further checks reportedly revealed that nine passengers were inside the vehicle and he was subsequently charged with operating a motor car as a public passenger vehicle without a road licence.
The police reportedly seized the motor car and took it to the Stony Hill station and left it there. However, it was reported that while on their way to continue their duties Bloomfield allegedly drove past the cops in same vehicle that was seized earlier.
The gave chase but Bloomfield managed to evade them. Police later went to his home but didn’t find him there.
On September 7, 2015, Bloomfield, police said, was seen driving on Manning’s Hill Road where he was served with a summonsto attend court.
