Pitter ships out to logistics

Career Ladder

Ramon Pitter has shifted career from banking to shipping and logistics. He has resigned from National Commercial Bank Jamaica and his roles as senior manager at NCBJ and director of NCB Global Finance Limited, a subsidiary of NCBJ, as of December 31, 2015.

On Monday Pitter started his new role as vice president — Corporate & Business Development for Seacorp Holdings. a shipping and logistics group based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the United States.

“I will be looking at partnerships, regional expansion and new investments for them,” Pitter told the Jamaica Observer. Pitter will be based in Fort Lauderdale, but says he will be “traveling back and forth fairly often” between the US and Jamaica.

Pitter started with NCB in 2012 as head of group mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and business development, and became a member of the board of directors for NCB Global Finance in 2014. Later that year he also took on the role of vice-president of investment banking and group M&A for NCB Capital Markets, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Prior to NCB, Pitter worked with GraceKennedy Limited as strategic advisor to the CEO. In the US he also worked with financial institutions, such as Bank of America, Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan.

Pitter holds an MBA in finance and marketing from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in the US, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Ohio Wesleyan University, also in the US.

Lloyd takes on global role at Digicel

Peter Lloyd, previously Director of Marketing at Digicel Jamaica is now Group Director of Marketing for the Digicel Group, a global role based in Jamaica.

“In my new role I will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive marketing strategy for the Digicel brand throughout the world. I am very excited about taking up this opportunity and I want to thank you for the kind cooperation and support you have afforded me over the last three years in my current role,” Lloyd said in a news release.

“This appointment sets off a period of transition from now until March 31, 2016 – by that time we expect to announce a new Director of Marketing for Digicel Jamaica. Until then I will continue to oversee the Jamaica marketing operations,” he said.

Lloyd was Director of Marketing for Digicel Jamaica from November 2013, having previously been the group head of advertising from 2011. He started at Digicel as a marketing manager in 2009. Prior to Digicel, Lloyd was a senior account manager at McConnells Advertising in Ireland where he worked from 2007 to 2010.

Lloyd received an honours degree in marketing in 2007 from the Dublin Institute of Technology in Ireland. He is a board director of the Digicel Foundation.

Board changes at Hardware & Lumber

Following GraceKennedy’s sale of its 58.15 per cent interest in Hardware & Lumber to Argly Industries Inc, five directors handed in their resignation, while five new directors were appointed.

Resigned are: Andrea Coy, Grace Burnett, Audrey Hinchcliffe, Gordon Sharp and Don Wehby.

The newly appointed directors are: Christopher Bovell, Joseph Bogdanovich, Anthony Bell, Patrick Williams and Marcus Richards.

Williams leaves Caribbean Producers

Roger Williams left his position as chief operating officer of Caribbean Producers last month.

Williams started working for Caribbean Producers in 2014. Prior to that he was general manager for Vistaprint from 2008 to 2013. From 2004 to 2006 he was vice-president of Jamaica operations for GraceKennedy Remittance Services, and was vice-president of Supreme Ventures from 2001 to 2004.

Williams holds an MBA from Howard University in Washington DC, United States, and a BSc in mechanical engineering from UWI St Augustine, in Trinidad.
