Woman accused of killing husband remanded
A woman who had been on the run for four years after she allegedly stabbed and killed her husband during a domestic dispute was remanded when she appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court last Friday.
The accused, 36-year-old Patricia Cornwall, is to answer to a charge of murder in relation to the death of Anthony Cornwall of Red Hills Road in Kingston.
According to a police report, on July 6, 2011, about 11:15 pm, the couple were at their home on Red Hills Road in Kingston when they had an argument, which led to a dispute.
It is alleged that the accused used a knife to stab the now deceased in the left side of his chest. The injured man was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Cornwall reportedly fled the scene and was arrested on December 21 of last year and subsequently charged.
On Friday, when she appeared in court, Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey ordered that she be interviewed for legal aid assistance.
Cornwall was subsequently remanded and is scheduled to return to court on January 26.
