Increased robberies on JUTC buses
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) is alerting commuters to the increased number of robberies taking place on its buses, particularly at nights.
The JUTC, in release Thursday, reported that over the past two weeks there have been six robberies.
JUTC Managing Director, Colin Campbell, said that the company is working with the police to protect all major corridors in the Kingston Metropolitan Transport Region (KMTR).
He added that the images of the robberies captured on the buses’ cameras have been passed on to the police.
It is believed that the robberies have been carried out by two individuals who have been identified, Campbell said.
Campbell further noted that safety is something which the JUTC takes seriously and that the protection of crew and passengers “is of paramount importance”.
“I am assuring the public of security in our service which remains the safest means of public transportation in the KMTR,” Campbell said.
