Album Review- Sia ‘This is Acting’
Another album from one of the most infamous blonde wigs in history once again did not disappoint. Australian hitmaker Sia Furler, more commonly known as Sia, released her seventh studio albumThis is Acting. The album was scheduled to be released on January 29, 2016 however it surfaced on Monday January 25, 2016.
The funny thing about this album is that the tracklist is comprised of songs the artist wrote for others artist which makes the title very fitting. As to why artists such as Adele, who “Birds Set Free” was for, and Rihanna for whom “Reaper” (written with Kanye West) and “Cheap Thrills” (written with Greg Kurstin) was written, chucked such well written and moving music makes you question their judgment. However after listening to the album you can tell, because Sia really is the only one who can pull off singing these songs.
Those who jump to the usual lazy conclusion as to why Sia chooses to wear a bag over her face or turn her back to the crowd during performances can never truly understand the masterpiece that is this woman’s work. While some songs on the album may make one cringe as they are not the Sia-esque beats and lyrical content we are used to, it still somehow fits her. While the artist is merely playing parts she still manages to produce goosebumps with her slack annunciation and fantastic focal range.
