MOVEMENTS – EITS (Europe in the Summer) Cafe
There is something about long journeys; it’s thinking of the journey’s end and the beginning of adventure that makes the whole thing worthwhile sometimes. Once again I journeyed through the hills of the Blue and John Crow Mountains in search of the rustic enchantment: EITS Cafe and the Mount Edge guest house.
As the road began to snake its way farther and farther into the mountains, we finally stumbled upon the rustic, enchanting eatery and cosy getaway. The journey was indeed worthwhile.
The entire property was absolutely stunning! The view and the ambience were serene and blissful. After being served grilled herbed shrimp with pesto pasta and sweet crepes topped with sweet spices for dessert, we imparted on the second leg of the adventure; Mount Edge guest house, which is nestled just below the cafe.
The guest house I must say is the ultimate getaway spot, especially for artists. Though there might be no pool or any of the other fancies of suburban living, the experience in the cool hills of Irish Town might be just as worthwhile as a five star hotel in the west. I’m not able to describe everything I saw in detail, but I made sure to capture as much of the guest house as possible, to share the experience as best as I could.
To ask whether I’d go back or not is no question, I would; especially to stay at the Mount Edge Guest House.
My only issue is the menu though, I feel there could have been a little more variety. The dishes are a fusion of European and Jamaican cuisine, so I was expecting a wider array from which to choose. My favourite part of the trip was touring the guest house.
There is so much hidden beauty in Jamaica, especially in the bushes, in the rear ends of the town etc… I want to explore it all and that is what Movements is about. Stay tuned, to see where I will be next week.
