TFA Major League kicks off on Saturday
FALMOUTH, Trelawny — Five former winners are among the 12 teams that will be chasing silverware when the 2015-16 Trelawny Football Association’s Monymusk Plantation Rum Major League kicks off this weekend with six games, three in each of the two zones.
Three former winners, including Holland United who were relegated from the Western Confederation Super League last season, will contest Zone 1 with two others, including last season’s beaten finalists Coopers Pen contesting Zone 2.
Just under $500,000 will be shared between the top four teams, with the winner qualifying for the Western Confederation Super League next season, according to a release from the Trelawny FA on Tuesday.
The teams will play each other twice in the first two rounds, home and away, with the top team on points in each zone qualifying for the mid-season final.
In the third round, all 12 teams will play against each other once, with the top four on total points advancing to the semi-finals which will be played on a home and away basis.
On Saturday, Holland United will take on Bunker’s Hill So Fresh at Elleston Wakeland Centre; last season’s Division One champions Fire FC will be away to Duanvale FC; Spicy Hill will meet Kinloss FC at Georgia; while Harmony FC and Classic United will be at Bounty Hall.
On Sunday, Coopers Pen will host Rio Bueno at Coopers Pen, while knockout champions Bacca Star United will be at home at Elleston Wakeland Centre to promoted Daniel Town.
